Sunday Servers

We are so fortunate to have many different people helping out with various roles to support worship and serve each Sunday. We usually put out a calendar at our church and ask the fold to fill it in if they are able to offer some help.  We want to try something new by having the sign up available on the website and see how far we get.  Creating worship relies on many hands, many people and many gifts to bring about the beauty of worship each week.

From flowers to coffee, from the readings and prayers to the servers at Communion there is room for You to offer some help.

Please consider giving some time to supporting our worship. You will be given fuller details in a new Sunday Servers booklet and there will always be people to give you a hand or answer a question.

We have Holy Communion on the first Sunday of the month. We will need two people – to prepare the elements for use (bread and grape juice), prepare the communion table, serve communion with the minister during worship and clear up afterwards. Full details will be given for this special ministry. 

Arrive before Worship to prepare the coffee, fill the creamers, and set out sugar bowls and spoons. Coffee Hosts also bring a treat of their choice—cookies, cakes, muffins, or anything else people can enjoy during coffee time. Once everyone is finished, the final step is packing up and washing the dishes. Don’t worry—there are always helping hands nearby for clean‑up. 

If you love greeting all the wonderful people who come to our church, look no further! Simply check which hymn books will be used for the service, then get the bulletins and books ready as members arrive. Offer your best hello and good morning, hand them the materials for worship, and you’re good to go.

Would you like to share in worship with Payers of the People? This is a beautiful part of worship where we embrace our neighbours, near and far in prayer.

If you want to sign up but need help, please contact Rev. Suzanna Bates. She can provide some help, guidelines, and resources. 

Do you have a passion for flowers or many you have a garden with extra blooms.  Each week Sylvan looks for flowers that can be on display during worship. Bring bright and beautiful colours to our sanctuary.  If you are able to bring flowers to worship, please contact the office and we will add you to the volunteer list!

Proceed to the front of our sanctuary to share the reading(s). Please come up the the microphone as we are concluding our Prayer Before Reading the Scriptures.

Please be sure you read slowly and practice several times before arriving on Sunday. If there are words you aren’t sure how to pronounce, a quick internet search should be able to help you. 

The readings for the week will be sent to you from the office the Wednesday or Thursday before service. 

Do you have an understanding of a sound system?  If you do we need your help. Sunday mornings we need the mics and sound set up so everyone can hear the sermon. 

We may also be adding zoom services on Sunday’s would you be willing to set this up as well?
