Memorials and Funerals at Sylvan
On behalf of the entire congregation, we extend our heartfelt condolences during this time of loss. We recognize that, amid your grief, there are many decisions and arrangements to be made. Please know that our church office is here to support you—do not hesitate to reach out if we can be of assistance.
Families are welcome to hold a reception in Sylvan Hall following the service. Our Hospitality Team is available to coordinate the setup of tables, preparation of tea and coffee, and post-reception cleanup. While our volunteers are pleased to assist in this way, we kindly ask that the family provide all food items for the reception.
We understand that families may have questions regarding the costs associated with holding a memorial or funeral service at the church. The following guidelines are provided to help clarify these details and assist you in your planning.
Fees:
– Honorarium for the Minister $300
– Use of Sanctuary $175
– Use of Hall/ Kitchen $100
– Hospitality Fee $75
– Custodian $70
– Pianist $150
– Graveside Only Service $300
Funeral and memorial services at Sylvan are conducted by the Sylvan Minister. Families are encouraged to contact the Church Office following the passing of a loved one to begin arrangements. The Office serves as the primary point of contact, assisting with the selection of a suitable date and time, and—where applicable—supporting the preparation and duplication of an Order of Service.
Should the family wish to include an additional minister or officiant in the service, this can be coordinated in consultation with the Sylvan Minister.
Music
Music can be a meaningful part of the service. We maintain a list of experienced and compassionate musicians who may be contacted if the family would like a pianist or other musical accompaniment during the service. The Church Office can provide further details upon request.
